At the Raptors game the other day and I couldn’t help but notice a mother with her family as she spent the majority of the game taking photos with her digital camera.
I watched intently as she snapped away anxiously not wanting to miss a single moment. And I couldn’t help but think how ironic it was. Here she was, preoccupied with taking these pictures so that she could preserve the moment, while the actual moment passed her by.
And there I was fixated with this thought as the moment passed me by.
I’ll refrain from saying something cliché here or maybe I already have.
Hope you’re off to the start of a good week.

The moment to her wasn’t the actual game but it was spending time with her family. The pictures help preserve that memory. A mother could care less about the outcome of the game but seeing the pictures tomorrow, one week, one year from now and witnessing the happiness on her child’s faces is something that will last forever.
I couldn’t agree with you more. The digital camera has made it easier for everyone to capture those moments but whats the point it your not in the moment. I think the older harder to use cameras are better because they actually make you think twice before you snap a pic.
A moment if you please…great Lexus ad.
I agree whole heartedly with Fez. The digi cam makes capturing ‘moments’ of whatever type and size a snap (no pun intended).
Great comments here.
@ Yogi - I see your point. This mother probably didn’t care about the game she was more interested in capturing the moment for her kids to remember.
@ Fez - that’s interesting because you had to think if this moment was worth capturing - there was an actual cost in film for each pic you took. With digital cameras it’s infinite, I would bet that 99.9% of those pics will never get printed or even make it to a computer
@ SunE - that was a great Lexus ad, I thought Lexus would take that campaign idea further but I believe that was the only execution
